Today I officially become an American citizen. I have lived in America since I was 18 years old so this has been a long journey for me and I have to admit the fact that I am finally here is insanely meaningful and emotional to me. Since I can remember I always wanted to be a mom and have a big family. I remember coming on vacation to America and staying with a wonderful big family that emulated love, values, faith, hope and positively. I think I decided then that somehow some way I wanted to raise my family here.
Whether you are a stay at home mom, a working mom or some combination of both, this week's episode of Pregnant in Heels is relevant to you. The struggle to find balance in our lives as parents and to have an identity beyond parenthood is a complex issue that many of us deal with. I think about it often and I am asked about it all the time.
I am not sure how many of you know this but I got my start in the world of maternity working as a sales associate on the floor of the 57th street and Madison Avenue A Pea in the Pod. It was an experience I will never forget. Now to be in the position to design the Rosie Pope for A Pea in the Pod collection is really a major milestone for me. If I could drink champagne (still breast feeding so I'll have to hold off as there is no telling just how much I might guzzle) this is something I might have rather a few glasses over!
With the national cesarean birth rate at more than a quarter of all births, more and more women want to know about VBACS (vaginal birth after C-section). I think it’s important to understand the benefits and the risks associated with them as well as how best to prepare if you want to explore this option for the birth of your child.
This week on Pregnant in Heels I make the rather adventurous decision to take 2 client couples for a baby moon couples retreat to the Dominican Republic. I found myself thinking a lot on this retreat why on earth was I leading a couples retreat when my main focus is always pregnancy and parenting? Since when did "couples" become part of that mix?
Almost every day I receive questions from moms who are dealing with sleep issues with their children. This is a topic that I take very seriously because if a child is having sleep issues it is likely affecting the entire household. So for parents that are frustrated and exhausted I have a great blog for you today by MomPrep Expert Dr. Whitney Roban with an introduction to sleep training.
This week's episode of pregnant in heels featured the very emotionally charged subject of vaccinations. I have to admit I often hesitate to write about the subject for fear of upsetting people and as you all know that's just not my usual style! I know those that are anti-vaccination come from a very good place but as you saw from the show I completely disagree with them and stand firm on the fact that with the evidence we have today, the only right choice is to go ahead with vaccinations.
