I am thrilled I was invited to host an evening to celebrate the book “The Super Adventures of Sophie and the City-All in a Day’s Work” written by Kelly Florio Kasouf (in the pic with me). The evening and the book were a perfect marriage between fashion and parenting (two things you all know I hold near and dear) and so I couldn’t be happier to tell you more about this fabulous children’s book.
Every time I read it, I imagine I am reading it to my daughter. Although she is still snuggled inside of me I just know we’ll spend evenings together pouring over the pages discussing New York, fashion, moms and dads and all the adventures we want to have together when she is just a wee bit older.
This book tells an aspirational tale of a little girl whose love for fashion and her father are what drive her as she ventures on a journey through a New York skyscraper. I get lost in the beautiful illustrations, the discussion of fashion and the doting father. His desire to be with his little girl juxtaposed against his busy career is something that of course strikes a chord with me. I have always had my boys around my work and I can’t wait for the days when they can come and sit at Mommy’s desk more often and help me design, talk about life and go for “Cotton Candy and Ice-cream” just like Sophie did at the Four Seasons. It makes me happy again that I am raising my children in New York City and reminds me it is all possible….the family, the career, the love and the adventures.
This book is well worth a read with your little girl who loves fashion, loves an adventure and most importantly loves you.
