Village Obstetrics™

George Mussalli MD & Jaqueline Worth MD

Village Obstetrics™ is a New York City practice that offers patients a genuine reverence for the natural process of birth.  We strive to balance the best of modern medicine with the ancient wisdom of unhurried care.  The former Chairman of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the legendary St. Vincent’s Hospital, Dr. George Mussalli is one of the few maternal-fetal medicine specialists who still delivers babies. Dr. Jaqueline Worth brings more than a decade’s experience as a busy obstetrician. We have delivered thousands of babies and share a genuine love of obstetrics.  We approach pregnancy with enthusiasm and excitement. We are aware of the uniqueness of each patient and family. We recognize your autonomy as the most important principle and strive for honest communication as the best way to build mutual trust. We recognize the physical, psychological, social, and even economic impact that pregnancy can have on our patients. We believe that sensitivity and the highest clinical standards in collaboration with other outstanding practitioners is the way to nurture the complex opportunities that new life brings. The guiding posts of our practice are respect and competence.

Dr. George Mussalli has extensive experience in both hands-on daily care and administrative medicine. He is the former Chairman of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the beloved St. Vincent’s Hospital in Greenwich Village. Prior to St. Vincent’s, he served as Chief of Obstetrics at North Central Bronx Hospital/Jacobi Medical Center. As Dr. Worth tells patients "Village Ob is incredibly blessed to have Dr. Mussalli. He is a true rarity – a kind, sensitive, and brilliant high-risk pregnancy doctor who loves to deliver babies and take care of patients day and night." In the Bronx he oversaw the pregnancy of thousands of women in a community with overwhelming rates of obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and preterm birth. Dr. Mussalli did his subspecialty training at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and is board certified in maternal-fetal medicine by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. A father of four, Dr. Mussalli understands the joys and heartaches of parenthood from both sides of the white coat.

A native New Yorker, Dr. Jaqueline Worth did her medical training at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. A stand-out in her residency at Lenox Hill, Dr. Worth quickly built her reputation as a talented and dedicated obstetrician. Dr. Mussalli spent three years trying to recruit her to St. Vincent's which ultimately led to the formation of this unique and dynamic practice -- Village Obstetrics. He comments that "her intellect, compassion, incomparable technical skill, and true love for her profession" is what makes her a top ob/gyn doctor in New York City today. Her passion is helping moms and dads and partners feel empowered and connected on the exciting but challenging road to parenthood. She wants all Village Ob patients to know their doctors care deeply and are with them every step of the way. In her own private life parenthood is one of her great joys. She has two school-age daughters who keep her grounded and smiling amidst all her other children - the Village Ob deliveries. She believes there is nothing better after a long day or night of work than helping one’s child understand a Shakespeare play or an algebra problem.  Together Dr. Mussalli and Dr. Worth have created a happy and nurturing practice in which to help usher your precious children into the world.
